— THE NAME

Kulandira

CHICHEWA · TO RECEIVE · TO ACCEPT

Person with medium brown skin wearing layered necklaces, bracelets, a white shirt, and holding a beaded necklace close to their chest.

Kulandira is a word derived from the Chichewa language, which is spoken in Malawi, a country located in southeastern Africa (where Nicolette was born). In Chichewa, "kulandira" means "to receive" or "to accept." It can also refer to "receiving" something from someone, such as receiving a gift, favor, or assistance.

The Chichewa language is an important part of the cultural and linguistic landscape of Malawi and neighbouring regions. The name honours that heritage and reflects the heart of what we do: creating a space where healing can be received.

— WHY WE DO THIS

The mental health crisis
is real. And it is growing.

Conventional treatment is not working for millions of people. The data is clear — and it is why Kulandira exists. These are not just numbers. They are the people who walk through our door.

"These are not abstract numbers. They are our clients — people who have spent decades in therapy working on the same things, and who have been told that management is the best they can hope for. We know differently. And the science is beginning to prove it."

— OUR FRAMEWORK

Three Pillars of Whole-Person Healing

Where Body, Mind, and Spirit converge — not as separate systems, but as one integrated path toward lasting change.

BODY— Nutritional Medicine

Addressing chronic inflammation, gut health, and the biochemical root causes that drive mood, energy, and emotional resilience. We heal the body so the mind can follow — because the physical and emotional are never truly separate.

01

MIND— Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy

Accessing and resolving unresolved trauma, grief, and emotional blocks held in the subconscious — reaching what years of conventional therapy has not been able to touch. Guided by a psychedelic therapist and a trained support.

02

SPIRIT— Integration & Wholeness

Safety, purpose, self-discovery, and ongoing support. Connecting healing to something larger — and integrating it into a life of genuine freedom: physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. This is where the lasting change becomes real.

03

— FOUNDATIONAL APPROACH AND VALUES

What we believe
about healing.

At Kulandira, we believe mental and physical health treatment should look fundamentally different from what most people have experienced. These are the principles that guide everything we do — from the first conversation to the integration session.

Harm Reduction-Oriented

Safety and dignity at every step. No judgement about where you've been, what you've used to cope, or how long it has taken to get here.

Integration-Focused

The ceremony is the beginning. What matters most is how you integrate and embody what you discover — and we support that all the way through.

Trauma-Informed

Everything we do is built on a deep understanding of how trauma lives in the body, shapes behaviour, and responds — not just talking about it.

Anti-Reductionist

We refuse to reduce complex human suffering to a single diagnosis or prescription. You are more than a label — and your healing reflects that.

Evidence-Based

Our approach is grounded in rigorous current research in psychedelic medicine, nutritional science, and trauma therapy — continuously updated.

Mindfulness & Embodied Awareness

Healing lives in the body as well as the mind. We work with both together — always — because lasting change requires both dimensions.

Safe & Compassionate

You are held with care and complete respect throughout your entire journey — from the first conversation to long after your ceremony.

Client Autonomy

Nothing happens without your full understanding, consent, and readiness. You are always in charge of your own process — we walk beside you.

Experience community-led therapy and support through the expertise of a close-knit team of innovative, creative, and extensively trained mental health professionals.
